A man named Ariel was coming to visit. I asked his daughter what he was like, asked his son in law, and asked his friend. I was confused as they painted portraits of three completely different men. When I actually met him, I could see how those three men weren’t the whole Ariel, rather they collectively lived inside of him.
It made me think about how we can ask our mentors and teachers for opinions or answers, but without experiencing it for ourselves, we will never see the whole picture. That’s why Luang Por Thoon always emphasized the importance of both knowing and experiencing. Alone, each one isn’t enough, but when they join hands, you can make great strides.

ทำให้คิดว่าเราจะถามอาจารย์ก็ถามไป แต่ถ้าเราไม่ได้เข้าไปมีประสบการณ์รด้วยตัวเราเองเราจะไม่สามารถเห็นว่าคำตอบของอาจารย์มันเป็นอย่างไรจริงๆ เรายังไม่สามารถที่จะเห็นภาพรวม หลวงพ่อทูลท่านสอนเสมอว่าต้องมีทั้งรู้และเห็นควบคู่กัน รู้เดี่ยวๆ เห็นเดี่ยวๆ ไม่พอ ต้องมีทั้งรู้และเห็นเผื่อที่จะเข้าใจและเห็นธรรมได้จริงๆ
