I was harvesting romaine lettuce when I noticed some leaves poking through the fence. At first I thought nothing of it. But then I looked at the fallen seeds and the dirt below the fence. I saw seemingly harmless plants taking root. But I knew that those tiny leaves couldn’t be taken for granted. Just a few leaves and seeds can develop into a hearty field. I have seen it happen before.
I remember doubting the two pennywort roots a friend gave us. “How can this possibly be enough to grow anything?” I asked my mom. She chuckled, “You’ll see. This is more than enough.”
And sure enough, those two roots multiplied exponentially, in no time at all.
It made me think of how we often see a potential problem, but excuse ourselves from responsibility. Someone else will handle it, someone else will pick it up, someone else will make the call. We’ve all done it. But is non-action ever without its consequences?
ไปตัดต้นไม้ แล้วเห็นยอดต้นหญ้าโผล่ข้ามรั้วมาที่บ้านเรา ตอนแรกก็ไม่คิดอะไรมาก แต่พอดูเมล็ดที่ตกอยู่ตรงดินข้างรั้ว ก็เห็นต้นหญ้ายอดอ่อนขึ้นเต็มเลย เรารู้ว่าเราจะประมาทกับต้นหญ้าเล็กๆพวกนี้ไม่ได้ ยอดกระจิ๋วไม่กี่ยอดก็กลายเป็นสวนหญ้าได้ภายในพริบตา เคยเห็นด้วยตาตัวเองมาแล้ว
เพื่อนเคยเอาใบบัวบกมาให้ปลูกที่บ้าน เขาเอามาให้สองราก เราก็งง คิดว่าเพียงสองรากจะพอปลูกอะไรได้ แม่หัวเราะและบอกว่า เดี๋ยวก็จะเห็นเอง สองรากนี้ก็มากมายแล้ว อีกไม่นานก็ได้เห็นว่าเป็นไปตามที่แม่พูด คือ มีใบบัวบกขึ้นเต็มสวนไปหมด
ทำให้คิดว่ามีหลายต่อหลายครั้งที่เราสังเกตปัญหาแต่ปล่อยมันไว้ อ้างว่าไม่ใช่หน้าที่ของเรา เดี๋ยวคนอื่นก็จะมาจัดการเอง เราเคยทำแบบนี้กันหมดทุกคนแหละ แต่การเมินเฉย การที่เราเห็นแต่ไม่ทำอะไร มันไม่มีผลที่จะตามมาจริงหรือ
The living room window is right under a big tree and above the parking spot. All the time, I have been renting this place I never care to clean anything outside my apartment. I feel like it’s not in my apartment, it suppose to be landlord’s responsibility. When i clean inside my room, I noticed more and more spider web outside that window and I keep ignoring it. Lately, I started to see more and more spiders in my living room, big ones and small ones and every time I had to put the spider in a box and take it outside. After I got to the point where I have to go outside in the middle of the night couple times a night, I started to question where are these spiders came from? Then I found out that even the window has a net, tiny spiders can still get in. It came from the spider web outside I didn’t clean. Now I have spiders problem and it came because I ignored the spider web outside my apartment.
Yes! One spider can multiply into countless baby spiders. At that point it’s much more difficult to contain
Wow! I better clean the spiderweb inside my Mind, or else!
